I am a passionate facility optimization professional. As a facility manager, I faced new challenges everyday. The last building I managed was originally built in 1960, there was an addition added in 1984, 1987, 1994 and I oversaw an addition in 2012. The facility was also reactive in maintenance and repairs. With varying codes for the different parts of the building and reactive leadership for facility operations, I became very versed in building and fire code as well as OSHA standards. In just five years we shifted from reactive to proactive and exceeded financial expectations. I left facility management for a role in business development. For the past 8 years I have conducted multiple building audits and assisted in identifying strategies to improve operations. While I was primarily focused on energy efficiency, I was always wearing my facility manager hat and shared potential issues with risk and safety. I am also the Chair of the Facilities Committee for the high rise building I live in. I have assisted in developing strategies and improvements for our maintenance program from treating our heating loops system, to completing a monthly walk thru to ensure we are following the maintenance plan. Professionally, I had started a new role in May, 2023, and after just over 1 year my position was eliminated due to financial challenges at the national level. I am taking this opportunity to develop/expand my own business to assist building and business owners, facility managers, and home owner associations. I completed the VIITA Basic Commercial Lines Inspector Course to refine my knowledge of safety and risk management.
